Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 12 getting into ‘Info Wars’

Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 12 may not air until January 31, but the episode title says a great deal about what this episode could be about: “Info Wars.”

We know that SVU is a timely show — as a matter of fact, it’s probably one of the timeliest shows on TV. It is with that in mind that we have a very tough time imagining that this is an unintentional reference to the controversial website promoted often by Alex Jones. The site InfoWars is known by some as a reference to fake news, and an environment that may be especially harmful to many demographics of the population.

As for how the Special Victims Unit is going to find themselves taking on a case potentially within this world, it’s not all that hard to figure out. If the show is meaning to rip a story from the headlines,  then there could be anything from a conspiracy to just a terribly-warped person who ends up being responsible for the crime. No matter the reason, “Info Wars” could prove to be the third consecutive episode of the show in a row that is especially timely. After all, this past episode had a ripped-from-the-headlines feel to it, and on the other side of this story Wednesday you are going to be seeing an airline-based episode that will have serious connections to the Harvey Weinstein scandal in terms of themes.

SVU season 19 episode 12 will hopefully be worth the wait, and hopefully it is also going to propel the show towards some other big episodes on the other sides of the hiatus. After all, following the conclusion of this episode there is going to be a fairly lengthy hiatus, one brought on in part by the Winter Olympics taking place on NBC. It’s a little early to speculate on the future of SVU beyond this, but we do know that Philip Winchester will be around for his arc as Peter Stone before too long.
