Bring It Back 2018: Should The 100, Agents of SHIELD, Lucifer, Timeless, and Once Upon a Time be saved?
Do you want to see some of your favorite shows stay on the air in 2018? Identifying and campaigning for some of them is what our CarterMatt Bring It Back series is all about!
Over the course of the next few days we are going to bring forward some shows that, for one reason or another, are on the bubble of keep it or cancel it. We’ll present you shows in four groups of five, and then have you vote for the one you think deserves another season. The show with the most votes will move on to a final four showdown next week, where the winner will get the title of Bring It Back Champion. The whole focus of this article series is to try and generate positive publicity and buzz for shows that clearly deserve a lot more attention then they’ve been getting. If we can convince a network to “Bring It Back” when it comes to a readers’ favorite show then our work here is done.
Take a look below at the five shows featured today. Voting is open starting now until Thursday, January 18 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time (1:00 p.m. Pacific). That’s when the final four showdown will take place. If you cannot see the poll for some reason and you are on mobile, be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and click to view the non-AMP version.
The five shows that are featured today are The 100, Agents of SHIELD, Lucifer, Timeless, and Once Upon a Time.
The 100 – The CW series is an interesting one to discuss here given that technically, it hasn’t even premiered its fifth season yet. At the same time, though, renewal campaigns do need to start early and a part of that is helping viewers know that a show is still out there and that it’s still worthy of attention.
Agents of SHIELD – While we’ll stop short of saying that the ABC series is doing an outstanding job in its new Friday timeslot, it has held its own better than we thought it would. With the right budget and story, the series does have a shot of coming back for more, but this show needs a lot more attention then it has to ensure another season.
Lucifer – Its ratings are down for season 3, but we like to think that its story and some of its notable casting (like Tom Welling) are enough to cause the writers to think about possibly bringing the show back for more. It’s just a fun show and even as a midseason replacement, it would still be a worthy part of almost any lineup.
Once Upon a Time – This is the biggest enigma of all. While Once Upon a Time on the surface seems to be struggling in the ratings, its DVR numbers are up significantly with the move to Friday. Are DVR ratings enough to actually make a renewal happen or is it going to need some attention from the fans to get people watching live?
Timeless – Like with The 100, the second season of the NBC show has yet to even come out. Still, this is a show worth fighting for EARLY since it needs every bit of help that it can get. NBC barely renewed it the first time around so we can’t quite sit here and feel altogether confident that it will get another chance on the air beyond what’s happening now without some help from the viewers keeping it alive.

I love The 100, and I’m pretty sure it won’t end after the 5th season. ;)
So my vote goes to Timeless, because even though it got renewed for a 2nd season, a 3rd one is as uncertain as was the 2nd, and the show definitely needs as much luck (and more views) as in May 2017.

It does not have to be the 100 or timeless! Timeless is well worth saving, a wonderful show about history in time travel. I’ve never seen the 100 but I don’t see why both of them can’t be renewed.
