Saturday Night Live bringing in Jessica Chastain, Will Ferrell to host

Jessica Chastain – How has she not hosted before? She will be doing so on the upcoming January 20 episode of the show, while Troye Sivan is serving as the musical guest. This hire follows in the tradition of the Rockwell booking in that SNL is clearly looking to bring on people with potential Oscar pedigrees for some of these shows.
We’re also very eager to see this story play out simply because we really haven’t seen Chastain do all that much when it comes to comedy. It’s an opportunity to see something very different from her and we’re incredibly eager to see what she brings to the table here.
Will Ferrell – Meanwhile, Ferrell is going to be appearing on the upcoming January 27 episode, one that is also going to feature a performance by Chris Stapleton. It’s possible that SNL does a Super Bowl episode; if that doesn’t happen, this could be the last episode before the Winter Olympics.
One of the biggest surprises that we have at the moment is that it’s taken so long to get a former cast member on this season! While Larry David has a history with SNL, he wasn’t an onscreen presence during his time on the show. Ferrell is coming off of a great run on Amazon, where he co-hosted a ridiculous New Year’s Eve parade special alongside Molly Shannon and generated plenty of laughs in the process.
What is Ferrell going to do? We almost want to see a meeting between his George W. Bush and Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump, even if the pairing together makes almost no sense at all.
