Brooke Shields goes from Law & Order: SVU to Jane the Virgin season 4
Following her substantial arc as Sheila on Law & Order: SVU season 19, it certainly didn’t take a heck of a long time for Brooke Shields to land herself another significant TV gig on Jane the Virgin season 4.
According to a report from Variety, you are going to have a chance to see Shields play the wonderfully-named River Fields, a model who just so turns out to be a significant rival for Jaime Camil’s Rogelio. She will appear across multiple episodes, and we’d take this casting as yet another sign that her work on SVU is done for the time being. That makes sense, given that Sheila was arrested at the end of the winter premiere after kidnapping Benson’s son Noah and trying to take him away from her.
This Jane the Virgin gig allows Shields an opportunity to return a little bit to some of her comedic roots. After all, she has appeared over time on such shows as The Middle, The Michael J. Fox, Show, Hannah Montana, That 70’s Show, and of course her most famous work on Suddenly Susan.
While we don’t exactly think that Shields needed her SVU gig in order to convince anyone that she was worthy of this new job on Jane the Virgin season 4, we certainly do not think that it hurt to have a great performance on TV right before this casting. She’s a TV legend at this point, and we feel like she’s always going to be in demand. That’s why the folks over at Jane the Virgin probably feel really lucky right now to have her.
New episodes of Jane the Virgin resume on January 19 on The CW. Meanwhile, SVU is currently airing new episodes Wednesday nights on NBC.
