Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan set summer convention schedule

At the conclusion of Outlander season 4 filming later this spring/summer, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe already seem to be busy filling up some of their break with some appearances. With that, they are officially entering the convention circuit!

Below, CarterMatt has four different events in which they may be set to appear in the coming months — one of them isn’t 100% confirmed, so we’re just being hopeful on that front and looking back at past patterns. Note that there is no guarantee that any guests will appear every day and things are subject to change. (By the time some of these conventions happen we’re pretty sure that there will be more guests than the ones currently announced.)

June 30 and July 1, The Land Con 2 in Paris – Both Heughan and Balfe are set to be attending right now alongside Steven Cree. The idea of getting these three in any place at the same time is going to lead to some wonderful comedy. July 19 – 22, San Diego Comic-Con – There is no confirmation that Outlander will be there at this time, but given the filming schedule and the popularity of the Outlander cast appearance at the last SDCC in 2017, it’s a safe bet. It’s all but assured that the cast will probably only be there for a couple of days. Stay tuned; we will offer up some more information the moment that we have a chance to learn more ourselves.

August 10 – 12, Highlanders 3 in Birmingham – As of right now Tobias Menzies and David Berry are confirmed. You can head over here to read more.

August 17 – August 19, A Salute to Outlander in New Jersey – Heughan, Balfe, Cree, and Graham McTavish are currently set to appear at this convention, which you can read more about at this link.

August 25 – 26, Wizard World in Chicago – Check out even more information at the official site.

Given the timing of the Paris convention it’s likely that season 4 filming will be done by then — or at least close to it since traveling in the middle of production is fairly tough. The cast will also be back presumably in New York / Los Angeles in September for whatever the season 4 promotional tour is set to be. New episodes are premiering later this year, though no specific date is set as of this time.

While we’ve never been to any Outlander-specific convention just yet we’ve heard wonderful things about the sense of fun and community; we’ve also been to enough other assorted conventions over the years to know that they can be great fun. Just be sure to wear some comfortable shoes (there’s a lot of walking) and have plenty of water.
