Will & Grace star Debra Messing slams E! over Catt Sadler, inequality — while on E!
While being interviewed by Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet, Debra Messing took E! to task over Catt Sadler receiving less money than her co-host Jason Kennedy … even though the moment came during a live E! broadcast.
Here’s a little bit more of what the Will & Grace star had to say:
“I was so shocked to hear that E! doesn’t believe in paying their female co-host the same as her male [counterpart]. I miss Catt Sadler. so we stand with her and that’s something that can change tomorrow. We want people to start having this conversation that women are just as valuable as men.”

Ever since Sadler departed the network after learning of the pay disparity, E! has come out and released a statement of their own:
“E! compensates employees fairly and appropriately based on their roles, regardless of gender. We appreciate Catt Sadler’s many contributions at E! News and wish her all the best following her decision to leave the network.”
They have also said that the pay disparity had to do with time spent in the job. However, the numbers between her and Kennedy were still pretty staggering. (Sadler herself has come out and asked her fans not to blame Kennedy for what happened.)
Messing’s moment on the red carpet is already generating plenty of reactions, and we give her all the credit in the world for being bold enough to go there. That is, after all, what this entire night is about — women bringing to light injustices in society. Pay disparity is still a reality for many all around the world and the only way to bring about change is to spread awareness. With that, there are few better venues in which to do this than at the Golden Globes themselves.
