The Originals season 5 premiere date revealed at The CW
You’ve waited for a long time to learn when Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and many other familiar faces are going to take their final bow. Thanks to The CW, answers are starting to come in and CarterMatt has the information for you today.
When is The Originals season 5 premiere date? We’re happy to confirm that the series will be airing starting on Friday, April 20 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
This news was confirmed at the TCA Winter Press Tour on Sunday, and we really cannot say that we’re all that surprised. While it would’ve been nice to have The Originals season 5 premiere date be a little earlier in the calendar, at the same time there was no reason for The CW to do that. This is a show in its final season, and it already has a loyal audience who will check it out no matter when it airs. There’s no real need to divert attention away during the standard season from shows that actually need the help in some capacity. The Originals can run into the summer and we’ll be more than happy to cover every single second of it.
The one bit of irony here is that, at present, The Originals episodes are probably off sleeping in a coffin much like many of the show’s vampires do. This is a show that could’ve premiered much earlier if there was space, given that filming for the series finale wrapped last year.
The Originals season 5 is going to pick up following an enormous time jump at the end of season 4, and it will feature many of the characters in new and fairly unexpected locations. There is a lot of interesting material that the series is going to explore, whether it be if the Mikaelson family can come back together or if there is a way for Klaus to atone from some of the mistakes in his past. Hope Mikaelson is also going to be much older, and will spend this season as a student presumably at Caroline and Alaric’s school for supernatural children. Basically, Matt Davis and Candice King’s characters are like the collective Vampire Diaries version of Professor Charles Xavier.
All in all, there’s a lot to look forward to before these famous vampires end up dropping the curtain.

Have you seen their ratings since they killed Cami? What loyal fan base? People bailed years ago. This ridiculous notion that Klaroline fans are as massive as you lead people to believe is misleading.
No doubt Julie Plec will ruin the Originals as badly as she ruined the Vampire Diaries. I heard the DVD sales of TVD is dismal.
I won’t be tuning in. When you go out of your way to ruin your own show so you can shove another shows character down out throats it means I won’t be wasting my time.
