Why Sam Heughan isn’t joining Caitriona Balfe at the 2018 Golden Globes; Outlander Weekly Roundup

Sam Heughan at the Golden Globes

When the 2018 Golden Globes air on NBC tonight, you are going to have an opportunity to see Caitriona Balfe learn if she will win her first-ever trophy for Actress in a Drama Series. She’s been nominated for Outlander in the past, but unfortunately has yet to actually take the trophy home.

Is Sam Heughan at the 2018 Golden Globes this year alongside Caitriona? While he’s been there in the past as support and to promote the show, he is missing in action this time around.

In a new post on Twitter (see below), Heughan confirmed the rather-unfortunate news that he will be cheering her on from Scotland this time around. He had attended some of the pre-show parties in Los Angeles, but was not able to stick around for the show itself. Outlander filming is starting back up shortly, so it does make some sense as to why he is unable to attend. Sometimes, the work does have to come first! Hopefully, the work that Sam, Caitriona, and the rest of the cast are putting in leads to them getting recognized even more in the future.

Balfe will of course be a great ambassador for Outlander moving into the show tonight; if there are some notable moments featuring her either before or during the show CarterMatt will have that information for you here.

We wanted to also use this article to give you some of the other stories that you may have missed from the past week, something that we like to do on Sundays! Think of this as a way to prepare for the week ahead with all things Outlander at your fingertips.

There has been a lot of Outlander coverage on CarterMatt this past week, but here are some of the highlights.

Meet Ulysses – The Starz drama has officially cast someone who is going to be very important to the story.

The scale of the North Carolina setting – Production designer Jon Gary Steele has offered up hints at just how ambitious their take on Fraser’s Ridge is as well as North Carolina in general will be.

Carriage disputes – What’s happening between Starz and cable provider Optimum — also, what other provider now has a deal with the network?

Trailer speculation – Even though there’s footage currently in the can, now is not necessarily the right time to release an official trailer.

Would Outlander on Netflix provide a ratings boost? – There is an interesting precedent for it due to the success of Shameless, another premium cable series that has made the jump over there.

Finally, our latest Outlander character questions piece – This time, the focus is on none other than Lord John Grey!

That’s a wrap — for now!
