Call the Midwife season 7 trailer: Meet Lucille Anderson and more

Call the Midwife season 7 casting - Lucille Anderson

In the wake of the most-recent Call the Midwife Christmas Special, you knew that you wanted to get more of the beloved series, right? Surely, you also knew that there was going to be an opportunity to get more new episodes soon…

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the latest Call the Midwife season 7 trailer, wait no more! We’ve got the latest video below. To go along with that, we’ve got a look at one of the most-important new midwives in Lucille Anderson.

This character (played by Leonie Elliott) is incredibly important to the series for many reasons — starting with her heritage. This is the first midwife on the BBC series to hail from the West Indies, and she brings with her some unique flair and personality. She’s an outsider in so many ways, but we also know that the entire crew at Nonnatus is very good at making people feel like family. They go through so much together that it is important that they all have some sort of family dynamic.

Also, Nonnatus probably realizes that they need someone with Lucille’s skill set, given the sole fact that Barbara is now gone for the time being up in Birmingham with Tom.

While Call the Midwife season 7 will be featuring many new characters and situations, you also have to believe that there are also going to be many elements of the show that are very familiar to what you’ve seen on the show before. There are still tender moments and great characters; beyond that, the series will reflect exactly what was going on in Great Britain at the time. It’s emotional, but also educational in its own way. There are few other series like it and its uniqueness makes us want to keep watching it year after year.

Call the Midwife season 7 will arrive on BBC One in the UK very soon; unfortunately for everyone reading in America, you have to wait a few more months for the series to navigate over to PBS. Hopefully, it will prove to be well worth it.

What are you the most excited to see from Call the Midwife season 7?
