The X-Files season 11 episode 4 may give you X-Files origin story

The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat

There are many things that intrigue us about The X-Files season 11 episode 4, with one of the most interesting ones being the title.

What is “The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat,” beyond just one of the most strangely-named episodes in a rather long time? Well, signs suggest that you could be getting a little more information on the X-Files themselves than we’ve seen in some time.

For a little more news on that, just take a look at The X-Files season 11 episode 4 synopsis below:

“Exploring the idea of The Mandela Effect, in which large groups of people remember an alternate history, Mulder and Scully learn how The X-Files themselves may have originated in the all-new “The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat” episode of THE X-FILES airing Wednesday, Jan. 24 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), on FOX.”

Getting an X-Files origin story, as it were, seems to be yet another sign that Chris Carter and the team are doing everything that they can to hand down information and tie up potential loose ends this season. While we and many others may not have liked the Scully twist from the premiere, that seems to be one of the intentions there. In giving us a little more insight on the X-Files themselves now, we could be checking off another box and more could be coming in the weeks ahead.

One other interesting thing about this episode is that it’s being penned by Darin Morgan, someone who we consider to be a series luminary who has created some of the darkest / most entertaining episodes of the series. While of course we’re not getting Vince Gilligan back, Carter did a very good job assembling many of the other super-friends who proved to be very valuable in the success of the original series. We just hope that some of them can produce some great, innovative stories that provide answers, but also entertain at the same time. Achieving that balance is something that the new iteration of the series is still working on to some degree.

Do you think “The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat” could prove to be interesting, or is it just a little too strange of an episode for its own good? Be sure to share in the comments below!
