Supergirl season 3 episode 11: ‘Fort Rozz,’ presents Livewire, Saturn Girl, & Psi

Supergirl season 3 episode 4

When Supergirl season 3 episode 11 airs on The CW Monday, January 22, you are almost going to see the Kara Danvers version of the Legion of Superheroes. The big twist here is that this particular legion just so happens to include two former villains.

Want to see more of what makes Supergirl season 3 episode 11, entitled “Fort Rozz,” so special? Let’s just say that the synopsis below makes that clear in the form of Livewire, Saturn Girl, and Psi:

SUPERGIRL TEAMS UP WITH SATURN GIRL, LIVEWIRE AND PSI – As Reign (Odette Annable) continues to terrorize the city, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) teams up with Saturn Girl (guest star Amy Jackson), and the two recruit Supergirl’s former enemies, Livewire (guest star Brit Morgan) and Psi (guest star Yael Grobglas), to form a team for a mission to Fort Rozz to recover a prisoner who has information on how to defeat Reign once and for all. Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) babysits Ruby (guest star Emma Tremblay). Gregory Smith directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (#311). Original airdate 1/22/18.

It almost feels like the better way to describe this episode is Supergirl meets the Suicide Squad given that Livewire is almost this show’s version of Harley Quinn. If Kara can figure out how to contain her, maybe she will be a worthy ally. Otherwise, this is going to be chaos.

In general, we have a hard time thinking that heading to Fort Rozz is going to somehow ensure that there aren’t any more problems with Reign. Even if they find this prisoner, is Reign really a character who is going to be defeated this early on in the season? The operative word we have right now for how the team may be feeling is “desperation.” They obviously know that they haven’t been able to find a leg up on Reign to date, and the longer they wait to figure this out the more likely it is that she’ll be almost impossible to beat.

If nothing else, we’re at least glad to see Supergirl doing something within this episode that we’ve always wanted them to do: Make use of some of their recurring villains. We don’t really love it when they’re one-and-done, especially since with some of them there is so much more worthy backstory to explore.
