Why the wait for an official Outlander season 4 trailer will take time
So why is there going to be such a long wait for the official Outlander season 4 trailer comes out? It’s all a matter of timing.
To be specific, it’s all a matter of Starz timing out what could be the ideal time in which viewers get to see more footage of Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, and the rest of the cast in action. While they have enough footage in the can right now to be able to make an Outlander season 4 trailer, that doesn’t necessarily mean that said footage is edited together; or, that doesn’t mean that it benefits them to release it now. While an Outlander season 4 trailer may be designed to please longtime fans of the show, there is another added component to it — trying to appeal to either viewers who haven’t seen the show before. You have to consider when is the best time for them to see something like this and get excited for the future.
The short answer there is that it benefits them to get a trailer out there a few months before the premiere.
Ratings – Should Outlander season 4 do anything in order to ensure better Golden Globe odds?
Any good story needs momentum. You want to start things out slow and then gradually build up more and more over time. The end goal here is that by the time you get to the end of the promotional campaign, you want jaws to be on the floor and people to be incredibly excited about what you’re bringing to the table. Starz started out their Outlander season 4 promotional campaign with a short teaser (watch it here), and that was enough to whet everyone’s appetite following the conclusion of a great season 3.
From there, Outlander has released some additional casting news, and now we wait for the next order of business: Some official photos to come out over at Starz. That could happen over the next couple of months, and there is a great deal of promotional equity that could come from getting those out there. They offer up more of a sense of the producers’ interpretation of America, and how Jamie and Claire could be adapting to it. These images will be spread around the internet for most of the rest of the year; with that, you want them to be perfect.
What we expect from an official Outlander season 4 trailer
When it comes, which is likely to be in June or July, we imagine that you’ll see Jamie and Claire being settled into their new lives. To go along with that, though, we expect some action, a couple of new characters, and also much more Brianna than we saw in any of the footage leading up to season 3. With this being such an important story for her coming up we’d love to see how Starz plans on promoting it.
Pending some major surprise, the Outlander season 4 premiere should air on Starz this fall. That seems to be the plan based on the material that is out there.
