Chicago PD season 5 episode 11 preview: Burgess takes a risk

Chicago PD season 5 episode 11 follows up the midseason premiere tonight, and after focusing on Jay Halstead and Ruzek, the focus will be instead shifting over to Burgess. This episode, entitled “Confidential,” is more or less the third opportunity we’ve had so far this season to put the focus on this character — previously, we saw the death of her old partner and losing her relationship after siding with Intelligence on a case.

Basically, Burgess episodes don’t always bring good things her way.

“Confidential” is once again a story that is going to play heavily on her past, this time in the form of an informant she worked with years ago on the job. For a little more insight on that, CarterMatt has for you the Chicago PD season 5 episode 11 synopsis below:

BURGESS WORKS WITH HER FIRST CRIMINAL INFORMANT TO TRACK DOWN A RUTHLESS PIMP AND BREAK UP HIS PROSTITUTION RING. While trying to find the pimp, Intelligence stumbles on the women’s shelter where he’s scouting out girls. And Burgess (Marina Squerciati) moves the case forward with a series of confidential tips, but risks putting her informant in harm’s way. Also starring Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Elias Koteas, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton and Tracy Spiridakos. Guest starring Gail Bean, Travis A. Knight and Andhy Mendez.

Basically, the fear here feels pretty clear: If one thing goes wrong, Burgess runs the risk of putting her old informant’s life in danger. She doesn’t want that hanging over her head, just as at the same time she doesn’t want the case to fall apart. The motivation moving forward for this character is more than less twofold: Doing right by her old informant and making sure the case gets closed. For many people out there this can be a somewhat-challenging balancing act. Yet, we’ve seen over time a lot of what Kim Burgess is capable of. We’re hoping that she will figure out a way to pull this off.

Hopefully, Chicago PD offers up a few surprises in this episode, but also a satisfying conclusion by the end of it.
