Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 10 preview: Rollins digs deep

Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 10 is airing on NBC next week, and the title here in “Pathological” should give you a pretty good sense of the sort of story that is coming up. This marks an opportunity to see Amanda Rollins take the lead on at least one part of the case — while we’d love to shout from the rooftops that this episode is all Kelli Giddish, all the time, NBC hasn’t exactly released enough information to make us confident about that. What they have done is offer up at least a small sense of Rollins’ importance, along with the specific venue that will be at the forefront of this upcoming case.

01/10/2018 (09:00PM – 10:00PM) (Wednesday) : When the SVU investigates a case involving two students in a special needs school, Rollins (Kelli Giddish) discovers that one child’s medical issues stem from a surprising source. Also starring Mariska Hargitay (Lt. Olivia Benson), Ice T (Det. Odafin Tutuola), Raul Esparza (ADA Rafael Barba) and Peter Scanavino (Det. Sonny Carisi). Guest starring Tamara Tunie (M.E. Melinda Warner), Carolyn McCormick (Dr. Elizabeth Olivet), Jenna Stern (Judge Elana Barth), Erin Wilhelmi (Mariel McLaughlin), Conor Tague (Cody Hill), Dendrie Taylor (Dawn McLaughlin) and George Sheffey (Lou McLaughlin).

For some out there, the main appeal of this episode will be getting to see familiar faces like Melinda Warner and Elizabeth Olivet back on the show; for others, it will be Rollins and the team getting justice for people who may very well be defenseless. The Special Victims Unit fights for the underdogs, which is one of many reasons why the series stands the test of time. While there are many cop shows featuring characters doing things that are inherently good, this one’s a little bit different.

“Pathological” is one of at least three SVU episodes airing in the month of January. If you love the Mariska Hargitay series be sure to watch and enjoy it as much as you can now since as we all know there is a long Olympics-related hiatus coming in the near future.
