The Big Bang Theory bringing Beth Behrs, Walton Goggins on board

Beth Behrs

The Big Bang Theory season 11 just signed on two familiar faces for at least one upcoming episode — 2 Broke Girls alum Beth Behrs and then Vice Principals / Justified alum Walton Goggins.

As for who these two are going to be playing, let’s just say that they’re both tied in some shape or form to Kunal Nayyar’s Raj. This season is Raj’s most active yet in terms of his dating life; he’s starting to get his confidence together, and as a result of that has seen some interest come his way. Per CBS, Behrs is going to be playing the part of Nell, a schoolteacher who becomes involved in some capacity with Raj. All of that sounds great on the surface … but then a major wrench gets thrown in courtesy of Goggins’ character.

We know that Walton is great at playing hyper-intense characters, and here he will be taking on the role of Nell’s estranged husband, someone who is none too pleased with the idea of her being with another man. It’s understandable to feel for Raj in this situation, mostly because this is one of those people who could easily tear him in half.

By the end of the season we hope that Raj is a little bit closer to a stable relationship, but we also understand why the writers may be a little hesitant to have that happen. One of the things that makes The Big Bang Theory fun is its variance, and as of right now we’ve already got every other series regular in a stable relationship/marriage. The only other significant character who is single is Stuart, and we’re not seeing a whole lot of push towards him getting a permanent love interest in the near future. Also, why can’t CBS determine if Kevin Sussman is a permanent regular or not? Some seasons he’s listed as that, whereas at other points he’s recurring.

We’ll get a chance to see this new Big Bang Theory episode later this season; no specific date has been set, but our sentiment is that it will be coming your way on the other side of the Olympics.
