Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 9: The Bethany Joy Lenz role mystery

Bethany Joy Lenz

Who is Bethany Joy Lenz playing on Grey’s Anatomy season 14? This may not be one of the biggest questions that we have entering the January 18 winter premiere, but it is certainly a question nonetheless. (Most of the hype instead seems to be tied towards Matthew Morrison and his character of Dr. Paul Stadler, who returned at the end of the winter finale. Stadler is Jo’s estranged and abusive husband.)

Lenz can be seen in the photo above as her character of Jenny, but back when the One Tree Hill alum’s casting was first announced, ABC was not altogether keen on giving away a plethora of details. What this photo seems to suggest is that she either has a relationship with Arizona or is tied in some way to Paul. Given that we’ve never seen her before on the show, it is unusual that one of her first appearances in a photo would come alongside Morrison. Maybe she is a new love interest / possible victim of his, or maybe she’s some sort of legal representation. Given Lenz’s body of work, we have to imagine that this is more than just a small one-episode gig … even if ABC is not saying a whole lot more than this.

As of right now, though, Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 9 (a.k.a. the winter premiere) is the only one that Lenz is credited for online. However, don’t take that as necessarily a guarantee that this is her only appearance.

Regardless of who Jenny is within the lens of Grey’s Anatomy, one thing remains the same: Jo’s struggle moving into the rest of the year is enormous. After all, she is going to have to figure out a way to both separate herself from Paul while also keeping herself safe. It’s a benefit to her in part that Paul showed up at the hospital, a place where there are many witnesses around. The trouble that she is likely going to run into is trying to find a way to escape this said hospital down the road.
