The Bachelor spotlight: Meet Lauren Jarreau, Masters graduate + former Vegas server

L:auren Jarreau

Lauren Jarreau may be one of four women named Lauren on The Bachelor featuring Arie Luyendyk Jr., but she’s actually the most notable Lauren of the group in terms of backstory. This is someone who graduated from Los Angeles and then spent years in the hospitality industry at the Wynn in Las Vegas. Now, she’s come back to Louisiana, where she got a Masters degree and now seems to be moving into her new career as a mental health professional. She’s 33 years old, which (shockingly) makes her one of the oldest contestants this season.

Beyond her being a contestant with hopes of having an actual career, what’s to like about her? We definitely think that she’s there for love, for starters — after all, she noted in her ABC bio that she’s not looking for “games.” (If that’s the case, why are you on The Bachelor when it’s basically one big game? Where does that get you?) Her Instagram is strikingly normal, and it also gives us a sense of some of what matters to her: Her family, her faith, and having close friendships.

She also includes this amusing answer in her bio when asked about her guilty pleasure: “Eating full meals in bed. Like putting a legit body towel over me and ordering pizza – no plates needed.” Who doesn’t love pizza? She’s from New Roads, Louisiana, a town of less than 5000 people. She’s the sort of person we could easily see getting an intro package or a good bit of screen time early on in the season.

Will Arie Luyendyk Jr. like her? – He probably should. Lauren strikes us as the sort of person who Arie really should be interested in given that she’s got a good bit of life experience and a good career in the works that is separate from the franchise. But, he probably won’t pick her just because very rarely do the older contestants win — let alone make it to the final two. It also doesn’t help her that there are four people named Lauren on this season.
