Roseanne boycott starts to happen after political controversy on Twitter

Johnny Galecki returning

Could a Roseanne boycott be starting up months before the revival even premieres on ABC? Let’s just say that nobody should really be surprised about this at all…

So what went on to cause some viewers on social media to say that they no longer have interest in watching the show? Well, much of that had to do with Roseanne Barr sharing some of her political beliefs and support for President Donald Trump on Twitter. The reason that we say that nobody should be altogether surprised is because Barr has voiced many of her beliefs for many years now; the only difference is that she now has a much larger profile than she once did because of her show coming back.

Barr has since deleted most of the tweets that caused so much controversy in the first place, and now seems to be opting instead for an inclusive message below hoping that everyone gets a chance to check out the show.

As for whether or not Barr’s beliefs are going to have any impact on the show, let’s just say that we’d be rather surprised in the event that it actually happens. While we all can have opinions about Roseanne over her beliefs, the number of people who are aware enough about them for it to impact their viewings habits is pretty small. Also, we are still many months away from the show premiering on ABC and many of these “protesting Twitter users” ultimately may end up getting bored and watching anyway.

Also, the majority of Twitter boycotts/drama are completely overblown. Take, for example, the number of people who “boycotted” Keurig after they pulled out of advertising on Hannity — at least temporarily. There were a few people disturbed enough to go and trash their coffee makers online, but the majority of these people probably just wanted attention. Twitter tends to inflate everything just because some of the opinions are so extreme and they have an ability to stick with you.

Do you want to watch the Roseanne revival no matter what Barr’s personal beliefs are?
