CNN New Year’s Eve 2018: Start time for Anderson Cooper – Andy Cohen show

CNN New Year's Eve 2018

Are you ready for CNN New Year’s Eve 2018? We’ve made it no secret over time that this is one of our favorite broadcast of the year, but with Andy Cohen teaming up with Anderson Cooper this time things could be different.

We’ll start this off by saying that we understand why CNN would want to distance themselves from Kathy Griffin, given some of the controversy that surrounded her earlier this year. Plus, there’s also the issue of her friendship with Cooper being apparently in ruins — she was able to needle him and make him so uncomfortable in the past just because the two parties were great friends, and it’s going to be so much harder for her to do that now since they aren’t really talking away from TV.

With Cohen, CNN is looking to capture some of the same energy in that he’s a very lively guy who is close to Cooper and should have a natural rapport with him. He’s not as naturally funny as Griffin, but it’s hard to expect that since he’s not a comedian by trade. He is a man who loves to have a good time and ask interesting questions; plus, his experience doing Watch What Happens Live! should have him uniquely qualified to handle this job and help to ring in the new year. Also, don’t undersell the value of Don Lemon and Brooke Baldwin — their interactions basically start off with the two of them having a good time and joking around. Then, Lemon starts drinking and does something mildly ridiculous. There was the time he got in the hot time and the time he got himself pierced on live TV. Remember when Baldwin had to convince him not to do the nipple piercing? New Year’s Eve Don Lemon is the greatest Don Lemon that ever Don Lemoned. He is all of us trying to get the stink of the rest of the year off for one night.

Lemon and Baldwin will have it a bit easier compared to Cooper and Cohen for one reason — they won’t be in New York, where it’s slated to be extremely cold for most of the night. Think well below freezing.

CNN New Year’s Eve 2018 starts at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time — rest assured that we’ll have updates throughout the night.
