New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2018 start time, weather, more for Ryan Seacrest, Jenny McCarthy broadcast
Let’s start with the start time. Per ABC, the official New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2018 broadcast is going to start off at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. There is often a great deal of filler content thrown into the early parts of the broadcast, including some countdowns and silly interviews. Yet, as the night goes on there are also a number of performances, including some that were pre-taped earlier this year from Los Angeles. Ciara is hosting the Los Angeles part of the show — BTS and Kelly Clarkson are two of the headlining acts there.
As for the most notable part of the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2018 show, that’s going to be coming your way at around 11:30 p.m. after you get through the local news and all of that. You’ll of course see the famous ball drop at midnight, but before that another performance from Mariah Carey. The “We Belong Together” singer is pretty famous for flubbing the performance last year — or at least that is the perception of some people. Carey blamed sound issues at the time and that led to a really heated debate as to what actually happened. Either way, clearly both the Carey camp and Dick Clark Productions realized that it’s mutually beneficial for her to return. There will likely be a huge viewership tonight just to see if there are any other issues that happen.
One of the biggest factors in tonight’s show could very well be the weather. As of right now we anticipate temperatures somewhere between 15 and 20 degrees Fahrenheit in Times Square tonight (think somewhere between -6 and -10 degrees Celsius), which is going to make everyone pretty cold and potentially miserable. We anticipate everyone will be bundled up a la Ralphie’s brother from A Christmas Story or simply be relying on booze to get through the night. We’ve seen cold New Year’s Rockin’ Eve broadcasts before so we don’t anticipate any huge changes down at Times Square. As of right now the show must go on — that seems to be the philosophy from all parties involved.
