Blue Bloods season 8 photo: A different look at ‘The Brave’
If there is one common thread we’ve seen explored many times over at this series, it’s the multiple meanings of the title for this show. Blue Bloods is applicable as more than just a name for cops; it’s also applicable in how being a police officer runs through the blood of Reagans. Henry is the patriarch, and then beyond that you have Frank, Danny, and Jamie all working for the police department. Erin is, for the most part, aligned with them through her work as a prosecutor.
Now, it’s looking possible that Nicky could be joining the ranks! In this episode Erin’s daughter will take the police exam, and while the photo above doesn’t give away too much, it’s still significant in terms of its location. There aren’t too many exterior shots that happen in notable places during the daytime, especially ones that feature Frank out on the street. It’s always more of an undertaking to get Tom Selleck’s character out there — you need to have the SUV and the guards nearby, given that being a police commissioner in New York City is such an important job that you need as much support around you as humanly possible.
As for whether or not we actually foresee Nicky becoming a cop by the end of the series, that seems like something that would make a great story for a finale at some point. It allows the show to become more full-circle as the next new generation of Reagans can start to do their own work within the force. The show doesn’t necessarily need this to be an ending, but it would be appropriate given everything that we’ve come to know about it over time.
