Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 9 spoilers: Jo’s aftermath

For a while, trying to get some definite scoop on Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 9 was fairly difficult. The ABC series has been off the air for a rather long time and with that, they haven’t been altogether keen to share many details … at least until now. We’re getting closer to “Four Seasons in One Day” airing on Thursday, January 18, and this is an episode very much worthy of your anticipation. We wish that we could say that this is a happy and upbeat episode — maybe it will be for a character or two, but it’s certainly not going to be for Jo (Camilla Luddington).

Judging from the Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 9 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below (via SpoilerTV), one of the primary orders of business is going to be seeing Jo reeling from the return of Paul Stadler (Matthew Morrison), her estranged husband, within the closing minutes of the winter finale:

“Jo faces her estranged, abusive husband; the hospital works with the FBI after a hacker compromises the computer system.”

With Paul’s return Jo is going to have to find some sort of safe place where he cannot get to her. We’ve said this before and we do think it bears repeating: The hospital is probably one of the safest places she can be at so long as she can keep some other people around her. Paul is a doctor, and we don’t have any reason to think that he’s willing to mortgage his entire reputation in order to be abusive to Jo in front of everyone. He’ll likely wait to try and hurt her when he is in private and can get away with it. Jo is going to know that, which is why she will benefit from being around other people — especially Alex (Justin Chambers).

Jo likely knew that this could be a consequence of her decision to file for divorce from the start; yet, that was a chance she was willing and ready to take.

As for the other part of the synopsis, it’s clear that the writers were going to have to resolve the hacking storyline at some point soon. Let’s just hope that it happens before the lives of some patients start to hang in the balance.
