The Brave: Why the NBC series deserves a second season

Brave season 2

It’s been a tough first half of the television season as many new shows are vying for their chance at a second season. For us, we believe NBC’s The Brave deserves to be one of those that gets renewed. Why? There are a number of reasons.

The ratings – Overall, the series has been holding a consistent number of viewers every week. It may dip for a week or two, but viewers always return and with good reason. The show’s concept is smart and different from many of the other new shows on television. While it does have the case/issue of the week format, it takes place in a different location every week as the team is a top-secret military group tasked with carrying out missions that need to be kept a secret. It’s not another police or medical procedural, but instead it takes a different approach. It’s no wonder fans keep coming back and we hope they continue to come back once the series returns in early Jan 2018.

The storytelling – The Brave is unique in the stories it tells. The concept of a top-secret military team carrying out secret missions is brilliant in our opinion. It’s different and we love that. The last thing any show should want to do is feel like more of the same. Granted, many of your everyday TV series may have different characters with different backstories but it’s still a medical or police series or a family comedy. Instead, The Brave tells stories about people who risks their lives in different parts of the world to keep us safe and the missions they carry out are realistic. They aren’t far-fetched stories that would never happen to the average person.

The characters – The characters on this show are intriguing and the best part is that we still have so much to learn about them. Every episode we get bits of information about a character or characters and what we get leaves us wanting more. For example, in the episode “The Greater Good,” we learn that Hannah Archer was tortured and craved up by a terrorist when she was undercover. This little fact revealed to us leaves us with so many questions; for example, how did she get out? It’s facts like these that keep us coming back.

The Brave is smart, original, and intriguing. It’s also one that needs more attention from NBC. The network has a great series, but they need to promote it more. By doing this more people may be more interested in tuning it. Now, we are aware that the series is up against ABC’s The Good Doctor, which has been taking the top prize during the 10 p.m. time slot. The Brave can still draw some of those viewers or find new ones for itself.

The Brave returns Jan 8 at 10 p.m. on NBC. For more news related to The Brave, be sure to visit this link.
