CarterMatt Awards 2017 results: Who are the winners of Best Couple?

Welcome to the CarterMatt Awards results! Throughout the final days of December we’re going to be sharing with you the end results of one of the greatest editions of these awards ever since we first started them six years ago. Hundreds of thousands of you voted, making this edition incredibly competitive and also a total blast to conduct. We hope that some of your favorites end up being among the winners this year!

In this results article the focus is planted firmly on the award for Best Couple, one that honors two characters who both were together for much of the calendar year and ended it often still an item. This is different somewhat from ‘Ship of the Year, another award being announced today that revolves more around people you want to see together.

Couples of TV are for many people aspirational; for others, they’re simply fun. You become attached to characters and feel like they are a part of your extended family. Therefore, you cry when they cry, and you cheer when something amazing happens to them. These are all characters who you come to love and root for through thick and thin.

Best Couple was one of the most competitive categories of the entire awards this year, but in the end there was a pretty clear winner.

Deeks and Kensi of NCIS: Los Angeles are your winners for Best Couple

With over 40% of the vote this beloved pair from the CBS crime series managed to easily earn the title this year. They started out strong, and while there were some great challenges from Waverly & Nicole from Wynonna Earp and Jamie & Claire from Outlander, they were able to take this award home. We understand why. Kensi and Deeks, otherwise known as Densi by fans, are one of the most entertaining couples on television. They support each other, have fun with each other, and are completely kickass in the field. They’re the perfect example of a great TV couple who fights crime during the day and comes home to spend time together at night. Sometimes their lives are a little unorthodox but they always have one another to rely on.

The fun thing about Kensi and Deeks is that as great as 2017 was for the two of them in between the engagement and the ensuring celebration, they still have a wedding! Hopefully that will take place at some point in 2018 and there will be a chance to celebrate the two more. Also, you know that their wedding will be insanely chaotic just like most of their lives are. They’ll probably end up having to change into a dress and a tux mere minutes after an insane shootout with some sort of terrorist leader.

This award is a credit to the writers for crafting great material for the characters, and also to Eric Christian Olsen and Daniela Ruah for managing to routinely find fun ways to bring these two to life.
