5 TV characters we miss most in 2017: Chicago PD, Vikings, Hawaii Five-0, and more
Yesterday, we posted our list of the five most notable TV deaths in 2017. Today, the focus is more on the characters who left us over the past year who still have the capacity to return to the show in the future — with their characters still among the living.
Murtagh Fraser, Outlander (Starz) – The situation with Murtagh is incredibly unique in that he’s a character who, per the source material, was not supposed to survive the Battle of Culloden. We thought he would be included on our list of notable deaths! Yet, he is alive and we’re grateful for the opportunity to miss him and wonder where he could turn up in season 4 — provided he turns up at all. We’ve already written plenty of speculation pieces about it.
Chin Ho Kelly, Hawaii Five-0 (CBS) – The circumstances surrounding the departure of Daniel Dae Kim from Hawaii Five-0 are very well documented and do bum us out tremendously; we of course miss both Kim and Grace Park from the show, but within the context of the series itself we truly miss Chin’s passion and resolve. He was one of the best examples out there of a crime TV hero, a guy willing to stop at nothing to get the job done.
Erin Lindsay, Chicago PD (NBC) – Based on what Sophia Bush has said in some interviews regarding her decision to depart the police drama, it sounds like it was the right move for her to make. After all, someone’s happiness should come before anything else. We do still miss Lindsay though, and wish there was a way that the writers could at least figure out a way for Jay Halstead to get a little more closure — Bush doesn’t even need to appear for that to happen, but we would love to see her again some day.
Rollo Sigurdsson, Vikings (History) – Ragnar’s brother is one of the series’ greatest malcontents, a selfish-but-powerful guy unafraid to sell anyone out for the sake of getting what he wants. While this show has added many a wonderful character over the past year, nobody can really replace the charisma that Clive Standen brought to this role. We know that he’s rather busy now with Taken, but we do hope there is time in the future for him to still show up and play a role in the story to come with Vikings season 5.
Emma Swan, Once Upon a Time (ABC) – Emma was the driving force and the heartbeat of the first six seasons of the show on ABC; as a result of that, it’s still rather difficult to fathom and imagine the series without her as a part of it. She was the perfect example of a hero with a heart of gold, someone willing to risk her life to be a savior and still have some essence of vulnerability and heart. Jennifer Morrison’s decision to depart is understandable, but we still hope that there’s an appearance from her coming up in the future.

I’m very curious as to why Robin Hood from Once Upon a Time is not on this list. I mean fans of him and OutlawQueen have been fighting for his return for the past two years with trend attempts, letter writing & social media campaigns and writing articles & blogs about why he is loved. And actually both Sean Maguire & the writers have said it was due to the fans that Robin was brought back for a few episodes in Season 6 and that fight is still going on. Robin should have been mentioned!

Why is Robin Hood not on the list?
Fans moved heaven and earth to have him back in season 6, and it was such a huge campaign that it actually happened, temporarily. Same thing is going on now.

I miss Emma Swan so much! And I hope we see her again in a special episode, showing her happy married life with Killian and their baby. Jen and Colin would gladly do a spin-off or a special ep. They want to show it. Show their reactions to the pregnancy, the birth, them holding their little one for the first time, Killian holding and sing to it. We truly need this.
