Chicago Med season 3: What lies ahead on the NBC drama?

Chicago Med season 3 premiere

Is Chicago Med new tonight on NBC? Given that it’s run virtually non-stop since its premiere in November, we can understand the desire to get more of some of your favorite doctors and nurses back in action.

Unfortunately, tonight is one of the only nights over the next few weeks in which you’re not going to see Nick Gehlfuss and the rest of the cast on the small screen. It’s the day after Christmas, and clearly someone over at NBC decided that airing a new episode tonight just wasn’t going to be worth the trouble. There is no new installment tonight and there won’t be another one until you roll around to Tuesday, January 2.

When Chicago Med returns, you will have a chance to see even more development in several key relationships on the show, whether it be Will/Natalie or Ethan/April. You’re also going to have a few more intense cases and, to go along with that, hopefully some more big debates at the hospital. For a little more information on that subject, you don’t have to look any further than the synopsis for the episode below:

01/02/2018 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Tuesday) : DR. CHOI AND GOODWIN ARGUE OVER MEDICAL ETHICS WHEN A PATIENT REFUSES TO TAKE AN HIV TEST BUT STILL DEMANDS TREATMENT – When a young woman with HIV symptoms and no insurance refuses to take the test, Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) and Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) attempt to treat her without taking a toll on the hospital’s resources. Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) and Will (Nick Gehlfuss) try to diagnose a young girl with increasing paralysis. Noah (guest star Roland Buck III) deals with his first death as a resident and takes it upon himself to inform the family. Sarah (Rachel DiPillo) continues to avoid work as her fear over the hospital’s security increases. Oliver Platt, Marlyne Barrett, Yaya DaCosta, Colin Donnell and Norma Kuhling also star. Eddie Jemison guest stars. TV-14

From the standpoint of relevance, the storyline that is probably going to be the memorable here is the HIV one — how do you convince someone to receive treatment when they don’t show a whole lot of interest in helping themselves? Is there a way to make this happen, or is there anything that the hospital can do to help? Be prepared to see an ethical debate involving Goodwin here — her inclination is to always find a way to help, but that may not always be possible.
