Call the Midwife season 7 premiere date hopes for Helen George, cast

Call the Midwife season 7

Interested in learning the Call the Midwife season 7 premiere date? Well, we enter this article bearing both good news and bad.

Let’s begin with getting the good news out of the way — Call the Midwife season 7 is going to premiere at some point in early 2018. This is the way that the BBC likes to do things with this show. Much as they often stay with tradition when it comes to Christmas Specials every year, they don’t like to shift things all that much for Call the Midwife in terms of its premiere date. The larger question with a show like this is how they are going to be able to figure out some ways to expand the universe and create many more unique stories while touching on themes of the present day. This is a series that emphasizes history on a near-regular basis and we imagine that will continue. Change is going to arrive in Poplar, but it will come more in waves as opposed to hitting you all at once.

One of the things that will be exciting about Call the Midwife is a new character named Lucille played by Leonie Elliott — she is the first midwife at Nonnatus to hail from the West Indies. She brings a touch of diversity to the show, while also a reminder of the ever-changing demographics of Britain. Her presence, in turn, should help to fill some of the void left by Patsy Mount (Emerald Fennell), who left at the end of season 6. Valerie Dyer is filling a part of that void but new faces at Nonnatus are always welcome! They are a huge part of what ultimately makes the show rather great. Lucille may also be help to occupy the space left by Barbara (Charlotte Ritchie), who seems to be departing for the near future.

For those of you who are reading this Call the Midwife article from America, note that you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer — PBS has already announced that the seventh season of the series is going to be premiering come April 2 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
