Top Chef: Colorado episode 4 video: Adult chefs become kid chefs

Top Chef: Colorado premiere

We like to think of the new Top Chef: Colorado episode 4 sneak peek as almost “reverse Big.” Remember how in the Tom Hanks movie the kid became an adult? Well here, the adults are basically going to need to become kids.

As the video below shows you, the remaining chefs are going to have to make the perfect meal on cooking equipment that is clearly meant for kids. This is a challenge for a number of different reasons. For one, some of the fancier equipment is not going to be available for some of the chefs. They’ll have to make do with what they have, and that’s not going to be altogether easy since the portions are going to be incredibly small. It also feels like it’ll be really easy for someone to accidentally toss something out of one of those tiny pans and catch it on fire.

In true Top Chef fashion we do imagine that someone is going to get immunity, and then from there they will have a chance to, hopefully, do more with it than some other chefs have as of late. It hasn’t always been the best season for immunity.

The one bad thing about this preview? It’s too short! That’s why we are happy to at least tell you a little bit more about what else is coming in the episode. The remaining chefs are going to visit a food incubator and, while there, learn about some immigrant women who are doing what they can in order to turn their love of food into a career. It’s a great opportunity for these chefs to realize more how hard some people are willing to work to make their dreams into a reality — and it should also be inspirational for everyone watching at home, as well. That is, after all, one of the goals of presenting something like this during the episode. You want to see good cooking, but at the same time, don’t you also want to make your audience feel something deep?
