Big Brother Canada 6 premiere date official at Global
The series is going to return with its brand-new cycle starting on Wednesday, March 7 — that’s just a little over a week after the end of the Winter Olympics and also a few days after the Oscars. There’s no official premiere time just yet, but it will be joining a lineup that also includes Survivor: Ghost Island, the latest season of the long-running reality franchise.
To date, Global is taking a pretty guarded approach when it comes to the theme and the twists of the season — which makes sense given that so much of the season is about the element of surprise.
If we could hand down some advice to producers, it would be this: Go back to basics a little bit this season. Stop with the international players/returnees this season and just find some great people from all over Canada who would be great at playing this game. Lean heavily into the pro-Canada curb since you’re coming off the Olympics and national pride will be at a high. Give Canadians a large say, but not so much of one that they can predetermine the winner. We like a ton of small twists Canada can control more so than some devastating power that alters the entire course of the game. At a certain point these get out of hand and slant the balance too much towards people who are fan favorites.
The next few months are going to be super-busy ones when it comes to Big Brother! For starts, the new Big Brother: Celebrity Edition will be airing in February; following that, you’ve got the Canadian version of the show; then, you’ve got the American version coming back for season 20 proper this summer. Hopefully there’s no Big Brother burnout along the way…
