Is Chloe Kohanski best winner of The Voice ever? Where she stands
Many seasons ago, we cultivated for the first time our official The Voice winner rankings to go through who we think are some of the most worthy competitors who have been a part of the series. Ranking The Voice champions is difficult given that there is no clear criteria. Do you go on record sales, the number of past contributions to the industry, or simply how memorable a performer they are? You almost have to combine all of them and then add in there potential at the end of the season. With someone like Chloe it’s hard to judge her post-show career before it even begins.
For the time being, though, it does feel pretty clear that Chloe is better than such winners as Jermaine Paul, Craig Wayne Boyd, Tessanne Chin, and Josh Kaufman in that she has more commercial viability. We also think that she’s more distinctive than the other most-recent champion in Chris Blue. We don’t see her, however, having the immediate impact of either a Cassadee Pope or a Danielle Bradbery — these are two other women who won The Voice with Blake Shelton as their mentor! The big different there was that in the case of these two women you’re looking at singers who were in his same genre.
As of right now, we’re slotting in Chloe Kohanski as the #5 winner of The Voice ever. She’s got the talent to move up slightly but a lot of that is going to depend on getting the right people around her and the right songs. The reason we have her ranked slightly behind Sawyer Fredericks and Jordan Smith is because these two seemed to have more of an immediate post-show push. Neither one of them is currently making an enormous splash in the industry but we feel as though their careers are far from over.
The next season of The Voice premieres on NBC after the Winter Olympics — we’ll get a chance to see at that point whether or not Chloe’s ranking will change.
