NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 13: Operation rescue Hetty

NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 13 is going to be the episode that so many of you out there have been looking forward to seeing. For the bulk of the season, we’ve heard one question time and time again: Where is Hetty? She’s the heart and soul of the team and the engine that helped to make it run — while they’re still working and functioning with Shay Mosley at the help it’s clear that the entire tone of the show is different. That’s something that we could end up seeing change when 9×13 airs on Sunday, January 14.

We’ve posted in the past that this is an episode that will feature Deeks, Kensi, Sam, and Callen heading over to Vietnam to find her; now, the synopsis below proves that:

“Cac Tu Nhan” – While Hetty is being tortured by her captors in Vietnam, Eric and Nell find a clue to her whereabouts, prompting the team to organize a rescue mission with very little information, on NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Sunday, Jan. 14 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Carl Lumbly guest stars as Charles Langston and John M. Jackson guest stars as A.J. Chegwidden.

This is arguably the most important episode of the season to date, and we do wonder if by some measure it represents the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one. It could end up being the last episode for a rather long time given that NFL football will start to get in the way in late January and the Winter Olympics are coming up beyond that. Don’t be surprised at all if there is some sort of epic cliffhanger that leaves you scratching your head and wondering whether or not the team plus Hetty make it out of Vietnam all in one piece.

On the other side of the Vietnam story, let’s hope that Hetty is back and the team can start to focus on some other things — including helping her heal from what seems to be an enormous degree of torture.
