Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 13 to be heartbreaking Grover episode
Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 13 is not going to be an ordinary episode of the CBS show. Many installments are fairly lighthearted and we enjoy them for the action, the comedy, and for seeing Steve and Danny bicker in a way that only makes us love them more. This particular episode however is going to be very different. Just hearing about the subject matter is heartbreaking on it’s own – watching it play out is going to require a box of tissues.
We know that Chi McBride is an exemplary actor; we’ve known that for years. He can tackle serious material and balance that out with lighthearted fare. Look at Boston Public, Human Target, or Pushing Daisies. His work as Grover is only the latest example of what he brings to the table. His performance in Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 13 could be one of his most powerful ones ever judging from the attached synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below:
“O ka mea ua hala, ua hala ia.”– When a man accused of killing his wife threatens to commit suicide, Grover reveals how he too was once on the brink of taking his own life, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, Jan. 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Chi McBride appears in a PSA for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at the end of the episode.
(“O ka mea ua hala, ua hala ia.” is Hawaiian for “What is Gone is Gone.”)
There have been elements of Grover’s backstory that suggest he is a tortured soul; we’ve seen that with him trying to resolve unresolved cases and working to establish some sort of inner peace for himself. Yet, we never knew the struggle within him was once at this level. This story is important not just for understanding where this character came from, but also how you can recover from this low point and rise above it. While Grover may be a fictional character there are often lessons and takeaways from fictional stories that we can apply to real life. Hawaii Five-0 can be inspiring and can illuminate a different path with this episode. While we believe every episode of the series is worth watching live, this one may be more than others.
Hawaii Five-0 will return from its winter hiatus on Friday, January 5 — if you want to read more about what’s coming up there you can do so over at the link here.
