This Is Us season 2 episode 11 spoilers: ‘The Fifth Wheel’ spins

This Is Us season 2 episode 11 is coming your way on January 9 (remember, it was pushed back a week from its original airing). Based on what we’re hearing now from NBC, there may be chance for the Pearson family to band together.

We’ll admit that the moment we first saw the cliffhanger ending of season 2 episode 10, one thought quickly entered our brain: How in the world could Randall ever forgive Kevin for what happened? It’s one thing to get a DUI; it’s another thing altogether for it to happen when your daughter is in the back seat! The only caveat here is that Kevin didn’t realize that his niece was back there at the time he took off; then again, maybe you could argue that even if she was being quiet, he would’ve heard her back there had he been sober. It’s a pretty terrible cycle that we imagine is going to take a lot of time to work through.

Based on the This Is Us season 2 episode 11 synopsis presented by CarterMatt below, the most important thing here is that Randall seems to be willing to work through some of it:

01/09/2018 (09:00PM – 10:01PM) (Tuesday) : The Pearsons come together under unexpected circumstances. Meanwhile, Jack surprises the family with a summer vacation. TV-14 L

On the surface the summer vacation storyline seems completely random. If you’re following along the “how Jack died” timeline that the show seems to be on right now, the last we saw was in football season right after Kevin’s injury and Randall going on a college tour. Chronologically that doesn’t quite fit. Yet, it’s possible that we’re talking about a summer vacation from earlier on in the Big Three’s lives, especially given that it’s always more fun to take your kids for a vacation before they are unruly teenagers.

For many people out there it may just be nice to see a summer-set storyline in the winter just to remind them of what sunshine is like. You don’t actually get too many series that can show you summer given that they don’t film or air often during that time of year.
