Sophia Bush wanted to leave Chicago PD for two years

Sophia Bush

Sophia Bush still isn’t sharing all of the specifics about her Chicago PD exit at the moment, but there are absolutely some interesting details coming out.

While speaking out in a new interview on Refinery 29’s Unstyled podcast, the actress made it clear that while she called it her “dream job” going into the gig, at the end of the second season she wanted nothing more than to hightail it out of there. She also claimed that after season 3 she stated that she met with show producers and stated that “if something really drastic doesn’t change, I’m leaving at the end of the year.” Apparently, that didn’t happen given that she left at the conclusion of season 4. The series has moved on and posted solid ratings, but recent reports suggest that Bush’s exit may have been in part to star Jason Beghe’s anger issues on set. (You can read more about that over at the link here.)

Since Bush’s departure she has went on to develop other projects and could have her own series coming up in the near future. Clearly, she’s been able to move on to do some other great things under her own terms and that’s awesome! It’s the sort of thing that almost any TV actor would want to do. Her departure from Chicago PD was incredibly sad at the time given that there are a ton of people who love the Erin Lindsay character but the more we hear about it, the more it is starting to feel like it is ultimately the right move for her. You ultimately don’t want someone working on a show that isn’t happy to be there so good on NBC for moving on.

Chicago PD will move on with new episodes starting on Wednesday, January 3, and if you do want to see some more news about what to expect there, you can do so over at the link here. If you do still love the Lindsay character there’s a Chicago PD syndication effort heating up. Basically, you’re going to have a chance to check it out in a variety of cable / broadcast outlets over the course of the next month.
