Chicago PD season 5 episode 10 photo: Voight’s back on the case
Well, no matter what it was, it isn’t stopping Hank from going back to work and getting started on another case. The photo above is one of the first looks we have at “Rabbit Hole,” the January 3 return of Chicago PD that will resolve some of what happened in the cliffhanger.
It shouldn’t come as all that much of a surprise that, no matter what happened with Ruzek, that Voight would return to work. That’s just the sort of man he is. That’s not necessarily a good thing, though — remember that he’s murdered people before and gone on to act like it’s no big deal. It’s not all that hard to figure out that he could do the same exact thing to Ruzek even though he’s one of the people working under him.
There’s been no sign of Ruzek in any of the photos coming up for “Rabbit Hole,” but don’t necessarily take that as a sign that he’s gone. Voight is the sort of guy who understands family and who understands what motivates people. As much as he may hate the idea of Ruzek betraying him, at the same exact time he also may realize why he did it. If these two men can talk this out and Voight can understand that Ruzek didn’t sell him out to Woods, there is virtually zero reason to think that these two can’t move forward. They should be able to figure this out and start to look towards the future — taking down Woods. It’s either that or just finding a way to get him off the trail.
The entire Woods storyline is a good reminder of one of the weirdest things about Chicago PD — technically, what Woods is doing is the right thing. He’s looking into corruption within a crime unit that has a history of working outside the letter of the law. Our frustration comes via the fact that we like most of the people within this unit.
