The Flash season 4 episode 10 will be The Trial of the Flash

Trial of the Flash

For anyone out there excited to see The Flash season 4 episode 10, here’s something else to be excited about: “The Trial of the Flash.” That is, (per SpoilerTV), the title for the mid-season premiere on Tuesday, January 16.

This title is a clear reference to one of the most famous arcs in the history of the Flash comics, and it is one that was set up on the show seasons ago when Barry ran through the multiverse. We should’ve expected it to happen at some point — yet, seeing it happen now and in the way that it did somehow still caught us by surprise. The shows version of the storyline revolves around Barry supposedly killing Clifford DeVoe a.k.a. The Thinker, and judging from the way in which the murder was set up he’s going to have a very hard time finding his way out of this situation.

Could Barry easily just spring his way out of a cell? Sure, but then every single person will know that he’s The Flash and that is VERY bad news. Of course, so is him going away in prison for a long period of time. The drama in the Trial of the Flash comes in how Barry, (with the help of his friends) will have to use quality detective work in order to prove that he did not kill DeVoe — even if he’d been suspended from his job in the past by the CCPD for relentlessly following the man around.

The reality here, (as viewers know) is that DeVoe transferred his mind over to the body of one Dominic Lanse, allowing him to continue living and threatening Barry, but in a completely different form. The problem is that this is going to be pretty darn hard (as in, impossible) to prove in front of a jury. He can’t use that information to work his way out of a guilty verdict.

Expect plenty of drama when “The Trial of the Flash” airs, but we don’t expect to see Barry separate from the rest of the team for all that long. The fourth season already started with Barry briefly away from the team; we’re at a point now where it benefits The Flash to have the title character out there.
