Outlander odds and ends: Google honors and new horizons
Let’s start with this edition of Who Is Honoring Outlander Now — it’s Google! Or, to be precisely, Google is honoring users who in turn honored Google with all of their search traffic. As Starz confirmed in a new tweet from a few days ago, the September episode “The Battle Joined” was one of the top-trending season premieres of the entire year.
After seeing and loving the premiere, it’s not all too hard to understand why. We also think that trending on Google is important for another reason — Google users tend to be a mixture of diehard fans and folks who are discovering a show for the first time and are interested in reading more. It’s yet another reminder that in its third season, Outlander continues to build in popularity. It is one of the reasons why we continue to think the show will rise in the ratings for season 4.
(If you missed it earlier, we actually broke down some of the early expectations that we have for Outlander season 4 in the ratings.)
Maril is staying put
For those wondering whether or not Ronald D. Moore’s upcoming project at Apple has any impact on executive producer Maril Davis’ future on Outlander, it does not. She confirmed as much in a new post on Twitter. We already told you upon the announcement of Moore’s new show that he also would not be leaving Outlander either, and he also confirmed that in a post today. Moore and Davis are more than capable of working on multiple projects at the same time, and it helps that they have a tremendous team all around. With Outlander you have Matthew B. Roberts managing things on the production end while Toni Graphia is working to help oversee the writers room.
Oh, and the notion of Moore talking about season 5 should leave many people excited…
Congratulations to Andrew Gower!
The Outlander actor, who played Prince Charles Stuart on the second season of the show, is going to be recurring on the upcoming Amazon fantasy-noir series Carnival Row. The news was first confirmed by Deadline.
As for who Gower will be portraying on the series, his character’s name is Ezra Spurnrose and he is described as “the scion of one of the most prominent families in the Burgue. When a business deal sours he finds himself under financial straights and reluctantly agrees, at his sister Imogen’s behest, to enter into a partnership with a wealthy Puck who has moved in across the street. When he begins to suspect that Imogen is falling in love with the Puck, Ezra will stop at nothing to protect his family’s reputation.” Certainly sounds meaty enough!
Carnival Row is still pretty early in the production phase, and will premiere at some point in 2019.
