Peter Quinn still a factor in Homeland season 7 story
Even though Quinn did die at the end of season 6, that does not mean that he is gone from the show forever and never to be mentioned again. It does appear as though this show is actually going to do something that many others gloss over: Grief. Often after a character dies you see an enormous time jump, one where they are just forgotten about and you’re left to wonder what happened with the funeral or how everyone is moving forward. This is not happening here.
In speaking on this subject to TVLine, executive producer Alex Gansa had the following to say:
“Quinn’s death and Carrie’s grief for him are everywhere – coloring her every thought … [Losing Quinn will amplify Carrie’s] contempt for President Keane [and] push her to reassess what’s really important in her life.”
Does this mean Carrie will put some stock into something that is not the job? There have been some occasions in the aftermath of Brody’s death where we have seen her consider this, but more often than not it is few and far between. It ends abruptly and then after that we’re left to wonder just what could have been if she was able to retain that normalcy in he life.
We think Carrie may yearn for that normalcy but she’s not going to find it anytime soon. Much of the seventh season could be about her having to confront the new conflict in the world with Keane at the center of it. She is utterly unqualified for her position and needs some element of checks around her. Saul looks to be her National Security Adviser but is that going to be anywhere close to enough?
Homeland season 7 is going to air new episodes on Showtime starting in February.
