Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 10 review: Danny Williams’ vision of the future
Among some of the highlights? Apparently Danny envisions his daughter Grace marrying Grover’s son Will, the restaurant gig is going swimmingly, and Tani eventually becoming in charge of Five-0. Also, he apparently ‘ships her with Junior. We got to see a whole lot of celebrations in the future and through those, we were reminded that some of these characters don’t exactly change all that much over time. Steve and Danny are always going to bicker, Kamekona’s always going to have questionable ideas for what “formal wear” is meant to be, and Grover’s always going to teeter on the cranky side.
If there was ever a time for a Grace Park cameo this probably would’ve been it, given that in these visions we learned that she and Adam were having a baby!
The best part of the future “flash-forwards” was easily at the end of the episode, watching Old Steve and Old Danny (hence the photo above) still fighting with each other decades in the future. These guys were still fighting, with the one change being that they were also now hard of hearing to go along with it.
Back in the actual present what we ended up seeing was an all-hands-on-deck situation where Steve, Tani, and Junior all worked together in order to save Danno’s life. It would be one thing if they were out in the field and could get him to a hospital. Yet, they were all still quarantined following what happened last week on the show. The trio had to figure out, (with help from Grover and others on the outside) how to bust Danny out of there so that he could be cared for. Luckily, they figured out a way to do that, but in the process of focusing on saving him it was hard to give much attention to who the guy was who burst into quarantine and shot Danny in the first place.
In the end, Joshua Hollister turned out to be the name of the man who entered quarantine … with the big twist being that this was an alias and that whoever hired him is seemingly still out there. After all, Five-0 found a photo of Danny in Hollister’s hotel room with “He deserved to die” written on it.
Other breaking news
Steve shaved his head and nobody really knows or understands why.
CarterMatt Verdict
Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 10 was certainly intense, not that we were all that concerned that Danny was going to die in the episode. There was just something comforting about watching it even in spite of the danger; it was sweet being able to see how Danny wanted the best for all of his friends and family in the future. Here’s to hoping that most of that actually ends up becoming reality – especially Will and Grace getting married!
