Is Gotham season 4 recasting the Scarecrow?
Could Gotham season 4 be bringing you a new Scarecrow, only a mere matter of episodes after seeing the Jonathan Crane character? The latest reports out there certainly make you wonder.
According to a new report coming in via TVLine, the show is “quietly” looking to bring in a new actor for the role of Scarecrow. The question here is whether or not they are looking to replace the previous actor in Charlie Tahan, or are just using the name as either a cover or misdirection.
We are certainly worried nonetheless about the recent incarnation of the character. For one, we liked the Jonathan Crane character as he was — though “like” may be the wrong word for a villain who utilizes some of what this guy does in order to get what he wants. Gotham has also gotten into somewhat of a habit of recasting villains as of late, given that they’ve now had three different actors playing the part of Ivy Pepper within the past season and a half alone.
The biggest thing that Gotham at this point can do is just come up with some good, creepy storylines and try not to force anything — the aforementioned report makes us a little concerned since we like the Scarecrow story the way that it’s been, but we have enough faith in the writers right now to watch it all play out. They’ve earned that with some of the great stories we’re getting a chance to see this season in between Professor Pyg and the rise of Sofia Falcone.
One thing we do understand is the desire for Gotham to want to go all-out with some of its stories given that there is no guarantee of a season 5 — you have to strike while the iron is hot and try to cram as much into this season as possible. For example, if Gotham does think that they have a good idea for Scarecrow and they need to use a new actor for it, it’s hard to fault them for going all-out to execute what they believe to be the best version of the show … even if we’re nervous about it.

If he’s masked the entire time then it wouldn’t be a big issue. They quietly recast Firefly and hid it with some scarring and red eyes.
I like Charlie Tahan in the role, I wonder if he’s unavailable or if they were unhappy? IMDB says he has a movie and his Twitter hasn’t been active since Oct so maybe he’s busy.
