As Survivor 35 nears its finale, who’s in the best spot?
Based on the preview below, it does feel as though Ben is doing his best Troyzan – Survivor: One World impression. It’s him versus everyone and he doesn’t have any clue what he’s going to need to do in order to save himself. This is a guy who just played a hidden immunity idol and effectively clowned everyone at the last Tribal Council. Nobody wants him at the end since they’re afraid he will win. We’re not sure that he will given that he’s brash and doesn’t have any in-game bedside manner. Yet, we get it — he’s a veteran who fought hard for the country and is fighting hard for his life in the game. If we were out there we wouldn’t want to take him to the end, either.
Yet, we’d also keep him for a couple more votes. Based on the people who are out there in the game right now, the most dangerous person is probably Mike. He’s a smart, likable guy and he seems to just be a number right now. The focus is on Ben, and even when Ben goes home the focus may be on Ashley / Devon and Ryan / Chrissy as pairs. He’ll be the swing vote and with this being a final three — and him being reasonably competent in some of these challenges — he’s got a chance of getting there and scoring tons of Healer votes.
The next most dangerous person is probably Chrissy, who has fought hard for weeks now and is highly intelligent. While Lauren told us in the exit interview that she didn’t love either Chrissy or Ryan, that doesn’t mean that she would not vote for one of them to win if they played a better game.
What about Ashley or Devon? We think that Devon is a sneaky-good player but he and Ashley are both in a little bit of peril. They got an itchy trigger finger last week in targeting Ben before they needed to. They were so desperate to pad the resume that they forgot that they need to get to the end before anything else. They should’ve just worked with Ben and gotten rid of Chrissy last week. There still would’ve been time to take out Ben down the road; they didn’t know about his idol, but eventually it would be ineligible anyway.
Ultimately, we’ll see where things go tonight but this is one of the more interesting late-game configurations we’ve seen in a while. Ashley may not have a great chance of winning based on where we are right now but we don’t think anyone is completely drawing dead.
