Grey’s Anatomy season 14 photo: The continuation of Matthew Morrison storyline
The image below comes via TVLine, and it features Morrison’s character alongside Jo (Camilla Luddington) in what seems to be an emotionally-charged moment. When Jo first ran into Dr. Stadler in the closing minutes of the winter finale, he had a smirk on his face that was somewhat similar to what we’d expect from some sort of comic-book supervillain. Yet, this isn’t a comic-book show. These are all replications of real people and this photo is more indicative of that. With the smirk, Paul was probably trying to just put on a mask. This image is more of an indication of where the conversation between the two parties goes.
Paul is a detestable disgrace for a human being — he’s an abuser, someone so violent and terrible that he forced Jo to go into hiding. Yet, he’s not going to show that side of himself publicly. Like many other abusers we imagine that he’s going to try to spin the narrative in the midst of this divorce to suit his own side of the story. He’ll claim that he’s a highly respected physician and a good guy whose wife ran away from him because of her own issues. He’ll probably claim that she is making up some of the abuse claims to make herself feel better about her own shortcomings. He’ll do whatever he can to keep her from getting what she wants while also keeping his own reputation at the same time.
Hopefully, Paul gets what is coming his way — some sort of consequences for his actions. Meanwhile, Jo and Alex should get an opportunity to move forward and have their own life. This is something that Paul took from her for many years and forced her to go into hiding. This will be an emotional and likely challenging storyline at times, but it’s a worthwhile one to tell just because it shines a light on what many men and women go through as abuse victims in this country. Their stories are not often told, especially in a realistic light.
