Ratings: Did Lucifer season 3 or Scorpion season 4 help their future?
This episode “The Sin Bin,” which featured at the end of it the big reveal that Marcus Pierce is actually Cain and therefore incapable of dying, generated a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That’s actually down from the prior week, and that’s especially disappointing given that we’re talking about a show here that didn’t have to compete against Supergirl or Dancing with the Stars. With the lesser competition we certainly wanted to see the show move in more of a positive direction.
As for the future of Lucifer as a whole we remain optimistic that we will see a season 4, mostly because Fox’s ratings landscape is not so great that they can afford to lose it. Even with lower numbers the series is still better than some of the other ones that are out there.
Lucifer returns in January, and hopefully some more viewers get a chance to catch up over the holiday break.
As for Scorpion season 4…
We absolutely hoped to see this show get a little bit of ratings improvement after it didn’t have to compete against The Good Doctor — it’s been our thinking most of the season that having that show there as competition was hurting it dramatically. Unfortunately, that didn’t end up being the case. The CBS series ended up drawing a 0.9 rating that was even to the week before, which is when The Good Doctor was still on the air.
These ratings indicate that some viewers may have switched over to The Good Doctor and didn’t come back, or just that they aren’t feeling Scorpion for whatever reason anymore. We do think that this is such a valuable property for CBS still that it’s not going anywhere — it should be entering syndication soon and they market some of their series better internationally than almost anyone out there.

I loved the episode last night of Scopion. It was my favorite of the season. I also liked the one where they went to the Renaissance Fair. I hope that Scorpion gets renewed.
