Chicago Med season 3 episode 4 sneak peek: Dr. Charles in trouble (again)

Charles -

There is one part about Chicago Med season 3 episode 4 that is going to feel very familiar — after all, Dr. Charles is going to be in jeopardy.

During the season 2 finale, we saw this courtesy of the character getting shot by Kellogg — in the sneak peek below, meanwhile, we see his plan to talk down a patient, who feels lied to and is very unstable, go horribly awry. This man threatened to shock himself with a defibrillator, but eventually lashed out when Dr. Charles’ attempts to help him didn’t work. As a result of that Dr. Charles and him end up getting into a tussle and for the second time in the past five episodes, the character in jeopardy. As a major fan of Oliver Platt we’re not sure that we can take all of this stress!

As for why Dr. Charles is getting so involved here in the first place, most of that comes back to his blind spot — and no, we’re not talking about that other NBC show with all of the tattoos. Dr. Charles’ blind spot is that he always feels like he can help everyone and that every patient is someone he can save. He didn’t want to believe that Kellogg acted in a mentally stable fashion, and he may not want to do anything different here. He just wants to help.

Unfortunately, we don’t see his brazen actions doing him any favors at the hospital — once he recovers from this latest episode. After all, Goodwin has already made it rather clear that his department is not the most profitable at the hospital and these incidents don’t help matters. Beyond that, he and Dr. Reese already have a great deal of tension between them and we have a feeling that we’re only going to see this only escalate from here. She’s definitely of the mindset that not every patient is worth helping — namely those who seem to be acting with clear, malicious motives.
