Hawaii Five-0 season 8 fall finale: Why is Danny in danger?

Catherine Rollins

CBS is promoting Friday night as a Hawaii Five-0 season 8 fall finale “event,” and it’s really not too much of a surprise why they’re doing that. There are two big episodes airing back to back starting at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and the first one seems to be picking up almost right where this past one left off.

There is something fairly surprising about what Hawaii Five-0 is doing here given that it’s not all that often that you see one episode connect directly to the one that aired before it. If you recall, Friday’s installment ended with Steve, Danny, Junior, and Tani getting themselves quarantined after being exposed to a deadly ailment while out at sea. They’re probably going to be very bored of each other at the time in which this new episode picks up, but that boredom is going to be almost immediately interrupted by an assailant who comes in after Danny Williams. The two have a history together and he is going to act on that in the most sudden / jarring way possible. Danny’s life will be in danger, but in the process of seeing him recover we will see the rest of the story for this episode begin.

If you didn’t hear, the 9:00 p.m. episode is going to have a fantasy component where you will flash-forward in Danny’s mind to what his life is like many decades in the future. You’ll see older versions of him and Steve, plus potentially older versions of some of the show’s other characters. There isn’t too much that is known about what some of the flash-forwards are going to contain but we have a feeling that they will bring a slice of fun to the show.

The second episode is not set up in the promo below, but signs point to it also being Danny-focused and it revolving around the holiday season. Basically, these two hours are going to be very Scott Caan heavy so if you love Danny and feel like he’s been under-utilized this season, these episodes should be right up your alley.
