Talking Dead midseason finale lineup: Khary Payton, Yvette Nicole Brown join Chris Hardwick

Talking Dead midseason finale

The Talking Dead midseason finale is airing on AMC tonight, and with that comes the semi-annual game of prognosticating character deaths based on the guests.

This time around, though, we really don’t think that there is all that much substantial to gleam from some of the people who are taking part tonight.

Khary Payton – We don’t think Ezekiel is dying tonight — the fact that Payton’s name was announced in advance was almost proof of that. More than likely this is going to just be a great episode for King Ezekiel, and that makes sense given everything that’s been going on with the Kingdom as of late and the war going on against multiple communities and Negan.

Showrunner Scott M. Gimple – This is standard. If Gimple wasn’t appearing during this episode we’d almost suspect that there was something going on. It makes the most sense for him to be there with Chris Hardwick, trying to help us piece together some of the craziness that unfolded throughout this final chapter of the season.

Yvette Nicole Brown – She’s not a cast member at all, but the Community alum (who is now on another really great show in ABC’s The Mayor) is one of the best commentators of all things Walking Dead out there. After everything that transpires in the episode, there is a reasonably good chance that we could need a little bit more of her insight and humor — it couldn’t be a depressing episode based on some of what happens.

Remember here that there is always still a chance for a few surprise guests to turn up over the course of the episode depending on what happens — if someone dies, for example, there is a very good chance that we’re going to get to hear from them here. (We’d be shocked if everyone makes it out of the episode in one piece, but it feels like The Walking Dead has been a little more wary of killing off major characters since Sasha, Glenn, and Abraham all perished during season 7.)
