The Walking Dead season 8 midseason finale video: Maggie, Jesus make their plans

Walking Dead season 8 midseason finale

The Walking Dead season 8 midseason finale is coming to AMC Sunday, and the big question CarterMatt has been wondering all week has to do with the Saviors. Is there a way to get them to surrender?

Based on the sneak peek below for the episode, Maggie does seem to believe that there is a way to get the Saviors to stop the war. It could involve them losing their resources and ultimately falling into a spot that they haven’t been before: Desperation. The Saviors, (at least through most of the time we’ve seen them) have operated from a position of power and comfort. They haven’t had to be tested all that much just because their army and support base is so vast. They haven’t needed to struggle in a while and with that we wonder if many of these people remember how to survive outside of the comfort of the compound and Negan’s protection.

The other communities are bringing chaos to the Sanctuary and in a wide array of different forms. We’ve already seen some of that with the plan that went terribly awry last week. Rick is ready to take down Negan, but walkers have already run rampant inside the compound and nobody is where they are supposed to be. You’ve got characters like Eugene and Dwight trying to figure out where they stand now and other x-factors like Jadis could blow in any given direction based on the offer that has been put in front of her at the time.

This episode will likely end in chaos that Maggie and Jesus don’t expect, though at this point they should probably expect this sort of thing on a near-constant basis. It’s a huge part of what has defined this season — though we did expect there to be a little more all-out war given that this is the arc from the comics that the first half of the season is based on. The characters we’re the most worried about at the moment included Father Gabriel, Carl, Eugene, and Dwight — for those curious, this is something that we’ll be breaking down more before the midseason finale airs. It wouldn’t be The Walking Dead without more rampant speculation as to which characters are going to die.
