Jessica Jones season 2 premiere date revealed; see first trailer

Jessica Jones season 2 premiere date

There’s no longer any reason to wonder about the Jessica Jones season 2 premiere date — Netflix has just made the news official!

Today, the streaming provider confirmed that the latest season of their superhero show is going to be kicking off on Thursday, March 8 — that’s a little unusual to kick off a show on a Thursday (Netflix typically waits to premiere their shows on Fridays), but a little more context makes the reasoning behind the move clear: It’s International Women’s Day. Therefore, it’s pretty darn clear that premiere date is intentional.

To go along with this, Netflix also released the first Jessica Jones season 2 trailer, which features Krysten Ritter doing more of what she does best as the title character — succeeding somehow despite the wide array of things that are working against her. Jessica is a character who swears, who drinks, and who has significant demons she battles on a daily basis. Even with Kilgrave gone, for example, all signs point to him playing a role in her mind — as reported recently, David Tennant is going to be coming back soon as the infamous villain from the first season.

Beyond the information within this trailer, which includes a rather wonderful nod to the first Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire, there isn’t a whole lot known about the season 2 story. That seems to be the strategy for all of the Marvel – Netflix shows, as they want to offer up viewers with as many different reasons as possible to binge-watch the shows and not know a whole lot about what is coming up.

This premiere date seemingly does confirm that Jessica Jones is the first one of the original four Marvel – Netflix shows to premiere following The Defenders. The next one in line could be Luke Cage based on filming timelines, and then after that the third season of Daredevil alongside the second season of Iron Fist. While we’re not entirely sure that anyone is going to refer to The Defenders as the greatest superhero television show known to mankind, there are many people out there who felt like Jessica Jones season 1 was the strongest show of the group that has come out.
