Chicago PD season 5: How Ruzek, Voight could work things out

Based on where things are for Ruzek and Voight at the moment on Chicago PD, it’s fairly easy to assume the worst. Yet, we don’t quite think that there is any immediate reason to think that Voight is going to murder him in the middle of the night over being the mole.

The thing with Voight is that as quick as he may be to lash out at times, he’s also understanding of the struggles of those around him — we’re not talking about some emotionless robot here! He does have a moral compass, even if it’s slightly skewed and he operates on a code separate from anyone else in the police department. This code is ultimately why Patrick John Flueger does think that these two characters are going to be okay. Just look at what he had to say on the subject of their relationship to per Cinema Blend:

“I think it’s only going to make Ruzek’s relationship with the two characters, Voight and Olinsky — but especially with Voight — deeper … Voight’s big thing is, ‘Tell me the truth so I can lie for you.’ But he knows family; he killed a guy over his son. I don’t think it’s lost on Voight that Ruzek’s sister could be in a lot of trouble. She probably had a few sips too many and blew over the limit, but if she gets the book thrown at her, she could lose her son — at least for a period of time. The fact that Ruzek was caught between a rock and a hard place, I don’t think that’s lost on Voight.”

Chicago PD season 5 will more than likely address what happens with these three men almost right away when it returns — after that, we’re hopefully going to get some resolution on the subject of Ruzek’s status plus that of his sister. We know that Denny Woods is hanging that over him, and that’s why Ruzek went against Voight and Intelligence in the first place. If Voight can find a way to get back at Woods it’s possible that Ruzek may be able to avoid any further hardship … but doing that is far from a slam dunk. There are plenty of other people who could punish Intelligence even if Woods isn’t the guy to do it.
