Stranger Things 3 premiere date likely will not be until 2019

Stranger Things 3

This Stranger Things 3 premiere date news is probably going to make you very sad — especially since Game of Thrones is also on a long hiatus.

While it has not been confirmed as of yet by Netflix, series star David Harbour noted recently to Variety that he does not anticipate the hit series returning to the streaming platform until 2019, largely because this is a show that takes a good bit of time for The Duffer Brothers, the creators and writers of the show, to get together:

“I mean, one of the things that’s annoying for fans is that it takes us a long time to do them … Like, you probably won’t get [Season 3] until sometime in 2019. But also part of the thing is, like any good thing, [The Duffer Brothers] need time. And those guys work so hard. I mean, they just sit in their apartment and write for 12, 14 hours a day.”

In addition to the long writing time for the series there’s another issue in that there is some post-production that takes a while so that the series can get its signature look and feel. A wait of around 15 months between Stranger Things seasons seems fairly standard, given that season 1 premiered in the summer of 2016 whereas season 2 premiered this past October. If we were to guess, we’d say that the third Stranger Things season could premiere at some point in February 2019 — though we wonder if it and Game of Thrones will not try to premiere around the same time as each other. They are, collectively, two of the most-popular series out there.

New episodes of Stranger Things 3 will likely film at some point in 2018, so you will at least get some consolation over the very long hiatus that things are getting done. Unfortunately, you probably won’t find out too much else when it comes to details given that the Stranger Things team is among the most secretive out there.
